The Spiritus Mundi project Wag the City received a special commendation and prize at the Inaugural Musical Rights Awards as an “imaginative program in two Swedish cities that brings together diverse young people aged 13-19, to create music and gain insight into other cultures†at the 3rd World Forum on Music and the 33rd General Assembly of the International Music Council held in Tunis, Tunisia, October 17-22 2009. As a member of the IMC, Spiritus Mundi participated in the General Assembly and was represented by Henrik Melius and Falah Sabbar as well as their college Mr. Al-Sayed Farouk Rizk from Saudi Arabia.

Spiritus Mundi founder Henrik Melius, nominated as a candidate for the IMC Executive board by the American Music Council, supported by Consejo general de la música (CIM-Uruguay) received clear support from the General Assembly and was elected board member. Other newly elected board members were Fernando Condon from Uruguay, Blasko Smilevski from Macedonia and Fethi Zghonda from Tunisia.

Dr. Richard Letts from Australia led the proceedings and finished his two consecutive terms as President for the IMC. His successor is Dr. Frans de Ruiter from Holland.

The International Music Council (IMC) is a membership organisation created in 1949 by the Director General of UNESCO as the advisory body to the agency on musical matters. It is based at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris and functions as an independent international NGO maintaining a formal associate relationship with UNESCO.
